BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater bounced back from Tuesday’s loss in a key Interstate 8 Conference matchup at Marshall with an 8-1 win at Pennfield Thursday night.
The Cardinals scored just 2:34 into game on a goal from Ayash Ahmed. Senior Saleh Mohammed finished the night with two goals and two assists, while his sophomore brother Amine Mohammed had two goals and one assist.
Mubarak Said also had two goals and one assist, while Mohamad Nasser had the other goal. Dillon Lawhead had two assists, with one each for Mohamed Aljabaly and Abe Alhajaji.
Michael Orozco-Aburto made one save in goal as Coldwater outshot Pennfield 23-4. The Panthers only goal came on a penalty kick.
The Cardinals improved to 2-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 5-4 overall. The will host Sturgis Saturday for their Cultural Understanding Game and Community Tailgate.
The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Pennfield 8-0 in a game that ended at the half on the mercy rule. Hisham Zamzami, Brayden Boyd, and Naja Norman each had two goals, with one each for Ryadh Muflihi and Zeman Norman.
Bauston Feldbauer didn’t have to make any saves in goal to earn the shutout.
Jackson Christian 4, Quincy 3
Jackson Christian scored a late goal off a corner kick as they defeated Quincy 4-3 on the Orioles home pitch. Bryce Pierce scored two goals for the Orioles. Both were assisted by Axel Beltran. Beltran also had an unassisted goal.
Nolan Nohr had 13 saves for the Orioles.
The team is back home Saturday at 10:00 a.m. against Olivet.
