David Allan DeGraw, 77, of Athens Township, passed away at home on Sunday, September 15, 2019 under the care of Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City. Visitation will be held from 4:00-5:00 PM on Friday, September 20, 2019, also at Lighthouse in Union City. Private interment will be at the Leroy Congregational Cemetery at a later date.
David was born on July 13, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI to Cecil A. and Betty Jane (Beach) DeGraw. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1961. On November 1, 1963 he married the former Carol Mae Mitchell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. David was employed for 42 years at Ralston-Purina Foods in Battle Creek, from which he retired in 2005. He also farmed and performed cemetery work for Leroy Township. David enjoyed bowling, shooting, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and gardening.
Survivors include David’s wife of 55 years, Carol; his children, Greg (Teresa) DeGraw of Union City, Cindy DeGraw of Athens, Catherine (Aaron) Shaffer of Tekonsha and Jeff (Liz) DeGraw of Ceresco; his grandchildren, Derrick (Becca) DeGraw, Darion (Tyler) Diamond, Rachael Vaughn, Caleb (Brandy) Butler, Corey DeGraw and Stephanie DeGraw; great-grandchildren Brady DeGraw and Bennett DeGraw; a brother, Dan DeGraw of Athens, and an uncle, Clark Beach.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
