GILEAD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police have located a suspect following a felonious assault which took place a week ago in Gilead Township.
State Police say three men were drinking together at a home on Mercury Road when an argument broke out.
The 58-year-old owner of the residence told one of the men to leave his home. While the 62-year-old suspect was leaving he had a knife in his hand and then slashed the homeowner on the neck. The suspect then fled the residence on foot.
The victim called 911 to report the assault. He was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne for treatment of what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
No names have been released. The State Police news release did not indicate if there have been any arrests or charges filed in the incident, which they say is still under investigation.
They were assisted by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.
