COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Farm Bureau members passed three local resolutions during their annual meeting Monday night at the Dearth Community Center in Coldwater.
One of the resolutions called for non-partisan county elected positions. According to the resolution’s rational, one must run for their county office based on a party affiliation yet perform duties that are not based on party politics. The resolution went on to say non-partisan based positions would encourage voting based on skill rather than politics.
Another local resolution supported a statewide Great Lakes filter strip initiative which would provide tax incentives to participants through state income taxes and would be defined through contracts with the state.
Three state resolutions were also passed. One resolution encouraged County Drain Commissioners be elected and not be appointed by local County Board of Commissioners.
Another resolution said the Farm Bureau supported free trade. It also urged their delegates to enact policy resolutions that ensure free and fair trade and stand against tariffs.
Eric Bronson, Brian Preston, Brian Pridgeon, Jeremy Brenner, and Luke Lindsey were all elected as Directors for the next two years.
