PARMA, MI (WTVB) – The highly favored Lady Redhawks of Marshall won the first Interstate 8 Conference cross country jamboree Tuesday at Parma Western as they edged Coldwater by three points. Marshall finished with 58 points with the Lady Cardinals in second with 61 points.
Led by Elka Machan in first place, the Lady Cards took five of the first 23 places with Legend Szafranski in 7th, Carolyn Potter in 11th, Cece DeWitt in 19th, and Ezma Machan in 23rd.
Kyle Foulk led the Coldwater boys team to a surprising fourth place finish with 103 points. Foulk finished in third, followed by Myron Lafty in 13th and John Aerts in 15th. Harper Creek took top honors with 60 points.
The Quincy boys were fourth at the Blissfield Invitational on Tuesday. Due to several injuries, the Quincy girls did not have enough runners for a team score. Three Orioles earned medals in the boys meet. Rhett Reif led Quincy with a fourth place finish while Jacob Reif was 12th and Erik Butchart was 15th.
Mollie Butchart was the top finisher for Quincy in the girls race as she was 28th.
