COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch Intermediate School District Superintendent Kris Jenkins told the district’s Board of Education Wednesday that they have had a higher enrollment of adult education students than expected.
Branch County Adult Education is being handled by the BISD after the Coldwater Community School’s grant funding ran out.
Jenkins said they applied for a $176,000 grant but only got $110,000. They currently have an adult ed budget of $157,000.
She said they were expecting 65 students but over 90 people have signed up.
Jenkins added the higher than expected number of students took place even though has been little advertising except for two ads in the Shoppers Guide. No additional advertising is planned since they have more students than anticipated.
Jenkins said there is a huge need in the community for people to get their GED diploma since businesses are telling prospective employees that they need it.
