BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater recorded its second straight shutout in high school soccer, beating Harper Creek 5-0 Thursday night.
The Cardinals scored all their goals in the first half, with two from Mubarak Said, and one each from Dillon Lawhead, Hashed Abdullah, and Ayash Ahmed. Lawhead, Ahmed, and Amine Mohammed each had one assist, with two for Muhktar Abdulla.
Ahmed Salem had five saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Harper Creek 20-7. The Cardinals improved to 5-2 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 9-5 overall.
They will host Otsego Saturday for Senior Day, then play at Parma Western Tuesday in the first round of the Interstate 8 Conference Gold Division tournament.
The Coldwater JV soccer team beat Harper Creek 8-0 in a game that ended on the mercy rule with about 11 minutes to play in the game. Joseph Closson and Naja Norman each had two goals, with one each for Brayden Boyd, Zeman Norman, Ahmed Umari, and Lucas Martinez. Bauston Feldbauer earned the shutout in goal.
The JV team will host Galesburg Augusta Saturday morning.
Leslie 5, Quincy 1
Axel Beltran scored the only Quincy with an assist from Jason Valdez. Nolan Nohr had 14 saves in goal. Quincy plays at Jonesville on Friday night.
