Elizabeth
“Betty” Jean Riddle, 87, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, September 27,
2019 surrounded by her loving family at home.
Visitation
for Betty will be held Friday, October 4, 2019 from 11:30 – 1:00 PM at
Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with funeral services at 1:00 PM at the
funeral home, Pastor Clark Polly officiating. Interment will follow at Lockwood
Cemetery in Coldwater.
Betty was
born on December 21, 1931 to William Prescott and Rhoda Ann (Reynolds) Frye in
Toledo, Ohio. Her marriage to Allen Riddle ended in divorce.
Betty worked
as a caretaker with the Coldwater State Home for over 20 years, retiring in
1991. She was a member of the Coldwater Red Hat Society and was very active at
the Burnside Senior Center in Coldwater. She was an Avon Representative for
many years.
Betty enjoyed reading, traveling, attending auctions, going to yard
and garage sales, going to the casino, attending dances and listening to Elvis
Presley. She loved her dogs JD and Brandy as well as animals in general.
Betty
will be fondly remembered as being “Grandma” to everyone, as she never met a
stranger, and all were welcome in her home.
She is
survived by her children; Cathy (Sherman) Stanley of Coldwater, James (Sherrie)
Riddle of Reading, William “Bill” (Alice) Riddle of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Allen
Riddle of Coldwater, Charles (Sarah) Riddle of Quincy and Mark Riddle of San
Bernadino, California, her 19 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 8 great
great grandchildren, Betty is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, her 2 sons; Michael and Steven Riddle, her 2
brothers; Jim and Bill Frye and her sister, Barbara Herzog.
