COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan South Central Power Agency board voted 4-1 Monday to have American Municipal Power manage the agency through June 2020.
Union City’s Chris Mathis cast the only no vote.
The move comes less than three weeks after the MSCPA and former General Manager Paul Beckhusen reached a separation agreement.
Beckhusen left after months of turmoil involving the purchase and renovation of the former Sauk Trail Trading Post building on South Division by the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities..
Beckhusen was the CBPU Director at the time of the transaction.
Coldwater’s Jeff Budd has been serving as the acting director of the agency since Beckhusen departed.
A more permanent solution to the future of the MSCPA is expected to be pursued once a report from the consulting firm of Courtenay and Associates is presented to the board during their November 7, 2019 meeting.
