COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 19-year-old from Homer was ordered to register as sex offender and was placed on probation for five years in Branch County Circuit Court Monday after entering a no-contest plea to a charge of attempted first degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jacob Beatty was also given a nine month jail sentence with credit for 272 days already served in connection with a July 2018 incident involving a four-year-old boy on Arney Road in Sherwood Township.
The original first degree criminal sexual conduct count was dismissed by prosecutors as well as a charge of accosting a child for immoral purposes in exchange for the plea.
During his time on probation, Beatty can not have alcohol or drugs and he can not enter any bars. He must undergo testing and treatment as requested.
