COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy Township man was arraigned Monday in Branch County District Court on five counts, including felony assault and weapon charges.
28-year old Michael Booher was booked at the Branch County Jail Saturday afternoon after being arrested by a Michigan Department of Natural Resources officer, who was assisted on the case by a Michigan State Police trooper.
According to court documents, a domestic situation led to the series of events on Saturday. Booher was stopped by police while he was in his vehicle on U.S. 12 near Quincy Grange Road.
Booher managed to slip away during the traffic stop but he was taken into custody a short time later after being chased by the trooper and the D.N.R. officer.
State Police say an unloaded gun was found under the passenger seat of Booher’s vehicle along with four rounds of ammunition.
Besides three weapons charges, two counts of assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer were also filed against Booher.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
Bond has been set at $50,000. His probable cause hearing in Branch County District Court is set for October 10, with a preliminary exam scheduled for October 15, 2019.
