BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Community Schools Board of Education formally accepted Rick Hilderley’s resignation as the district’s Superintendent during a special meeting Thursday night.
They then appointed Bruce Caswell as the interim Superintendent while a search is conducted by the Michigan Association of School Boards for Hilderley’s successor.
Caswell has indicated he can begin on October 14th. The board agreed to pay him at a flat rate of $400 a day.
Caswell will turn 70 years old October 20. He served as the Superintendent of the Pittsford School District between 1997 and 2000. He was a teacher in Pittsford for 18 years. Caswell is also a former State Senator and State Representative.
Hilderley’s last day in Bronson will be October 18, 2019. He will begin his new job as the Tecumseh School Superintendent the following Monday. He worked in Tecumseh as a teacher and school principal for nearly three decades before becoming the Bronson Superintendent in June 2017.
