COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The expansion of the ALDI grocery store at 811 East Chicago Street and a site plan review for the project are on the agenda for Monday night’s City of Coldwater Planning Commission meeting.
According to the city’s Zoning Ordinance, any nonresidential building greater than 1,000 square feet in area requires review by the Planning Commission.
In his report, City Planner Dean Walrack says ALDI wants to build a 3,320 square foot addition to the existing grocery store.
It would be part of a $1 million project.
The addition would bring the total building area to over 18,000 square foot on a 2.3 acre lot.
Plans also call for the interior of the existing building to be remodeled. The Coldwater ALDI store currently has 12 employees.
