COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater won their first ever invitational meet on Saturday at the Browne Aquatic Center. The Cardinals had 23 girls secure a bid in the finals. Leah Goodwin broke the team diving record as she finished first while Mia Rzepka and McKenna Hantz finished third and fourth respectively. The performance by the divers gave the Cards a 20 point lead heading into swim finals which they did not relinquish. Coldwater won the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle relays. Jillian McKinley won the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Butterfly. Paige Kirkpatrick won the 100 Backstroke.
This was also the Girls Swim Team’s “Drown Out Cancer” meet as part of the annual Purple event at Coldwater High School. The meet had a chuck a duck raffle and a prize raffle with proceeds going towards the Purple Cancer fundraiser that CHS puts on each year. $565 was raised for that goal on Saturday. The Girls Swim Team would like to say thank you to all that donated to the raffles. Without them, they would not be able to hold such an event. And the girls would like to say a special thank you to Sara Rzepka for all her work heading up the purple fundraiser for the swim team.
