COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Democratic Party Chair David McMillan says for the second year in a row they set a record in both attendance and fund raising at their annual “Carl Levin Dinner” which was held at Bill’s Grill House at Coldwater Golf Course this past Wednesday.
McMillan says in a press release that over 90 were on hand and enthusiastically welcomed Michigan’s U.S. Senator Gary Peters as special guest speaker and State Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes as the evening’s featured speaker.
Peters talked about current events in the country and in Washington D.C. as well as the critical importance of the 2020 election and the role Michigan will play in that election. He also stressed his continuing efforts to work with his colleagues from both parties on legislative issues even during the ongoing impeachment inquiry.
Barnes reviewed the extensive work being done by the State Democratic Party to assist local County parties in preparing for the upcoming 2020 elections and recognized the progress the Party has made over the recent four years.
Remarks were also made by C.B. “Chris” Smith, who is a Democratic candidate for the 7th District Congressional seat in the U.S. House.
