PARK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Three people are dead after a vehicle was struck by a semi in St. Joseph County.
It happened in the area of US-131 and Johnson Road in Park Township around 8 p.m. Friday.
Officers say a 52-year-old man from Kalamazoo was traveling eastbound on Johnson, blew through a stop sign, and was struck by a semi-truck traveling in the southbound lane of 131.
The three occupants in the at-fault vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene and the semi-truck driver, a 46-year-old man from Grand Rapids, suffered minor injuries.
Investigators say both drivers were wearing seatbelts but the passengers were not. It’s unknown if alcohol was a factor.
The crash is still under investigation.
