COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – At the request of Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid, the Coldwater City Council agreed on Monday night to update the job description for the Deputy Chief of Police.
Scheid told the Council the current job description, which is listed as Deputy Director of Public Safety, has extra language added for fire response. Much of the language was added when it was decided the previous Public Safety Director was not going to attend fire training. Scheid said since he has fire training, he will be able to assist the Fire Department as needed.
Scheid feels this will make it easier to fill the position.
Scheid said in his letter to the Council that updating the job description will better define the responsibilities, essential duties and functions that the job entails.
