UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Village of Union City has announced that village residents can drop off compost involving sticks, leaves and grass clippings at the Village Wastewater Treatment Facility on Creamery Road next Saturday, October 26 and on Saturday, November 9 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.
It’s only open to village residents and taxpayers. A Union City Police Officer will be checking identifications at the gate to ensure the residency requirement.
Due to widespread abuse, Union City closed its compost site on M-60 last month in order to comply with state regulations and standards.
The action was taken following the illegal dumping of tires, building material, furniture, and other trash. In addition, there was use of the site by people from outside of Union City.
