COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man is going back to prison after he got into a fight with police in late July.
33-year-old Seth Patrick Foltz was ordered to serve between 16 months and two years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea for assaulting, resisting, and obstructing a police officer.
Prosecutors dropped three other charges in exchange for the plea.
21-year veteran Coldwater Police Sergeant David Crilly suffered a serious ankle injury as police were trying to serve Foltz with a warrant for not paying fines and costs in a previous criminal case.
Foltz must also pay over $6,100 in restitution and his prison time will be consecutive to his parole.
Foltz has a criminal record which includes home invasion and unlawful driving away of an automobile charges stemming from crimes in January 2011.
Records indicate he was on parole at the time of the confrontation with officers after being sentenced two years ago for larceny.
