COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Fire Marshall Steve Trall says a chimney fire and a fireplace that was in use at the time caused $150,000 damage to the Mohamed Shahbain residence at 214 West Pearl Street in Coldwater late Thursday night.
No injuries were reported.
The fire in the two story single family home was reported at 10:57 p.m..
The first firefighters who arrived found smoke across West Pearl Street and flames coming from around the exterior of the chimney.
Off duty firefighters had to be called in to assist. The fire was called under control at 12:13 a.m. Crews remained on the scene until 2:17 a.m. Friday morning.
Damage was reported in the southwest corner of the home. Trall says the heaviest damage was in a first story family room, a second story bedroom and the attic of the home.
The Coldwater Fire Department got assistance from Coldwater Police, Lifecare Ambulance, the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities, and Michigan Gas Utilities.
