BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Girls teams from Coldwater and Bronson, along with four other individual runners from Branch County, will be competing Saturday at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Cross Country Finals at Michigan International Speedway.
It will be the first appearance by a Coldwater girls team in the state finals since the 1980’s. Both the Cardinals in Division Two and the Vikings in Division Three finished third at their regional meets last week.
Elka Machan of Coldwater is coming off a regional championship. Her time of 18:00.7 was the seventh fastest time among Division Two girls in the state this season.
Coldwater’s Kyle Foulk will compete in the Division Two Boys Finals as an individual.
Quincy’s Avery Rufenacht and Rhett Reif along with Bronson’s Luis Ortiz will be running as individuals in the Division Three State Finals.
