QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Consumer’s Energy reported Friday morning that over 3,400 customers east of Coldwater to almost the Hillsdale County line were without power.
The outages were apparently caused by Thursday night’s windy conditions which followed yet another day of soaking rain and light snow.
Because of the outage, the Quincy Community Schools cancelled classes Friday.
The highest recorded wind gust on Thursday at the Branch County Memorial Airport was 29 miles an hour.
The Michigan State University Extension weather recording station at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater recorded just under one inch of rain Thursday. Nearly three inches of rain has fallen at that location since last Saturday.
The overnight power outage took in an area from I-69 to near Booth Road and from near Girard Road south to East Central Road.
The Consumer’s Energy Outage Page on their website estimated the power would be restored late Friday morning.
