COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys soccer teams celebrated both on-field and classroom successes at their annual awards banquet Wednesday night.
Seniors Saleh Mohammed and Koby Stewart were named Academic All State by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association. Both were also named Interstate 8 Academic All Conference, along with Bryan Herrera, Amine Mohammed, Michael Orozco-Aburto, and Angel Rodriguez.
Amine Mohammed was named Third Team All State by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association, while Mubarak Said was selected All State Honorable Mention for the second straight year.
Both were also named to the All Region and All District Teams. Also named All District were Ayash Ahmed, Mohamed Aljabaly, and Saleh Mohammed.
Amine and Saleh Mohammed and Mubarak Said were selected to the Interstate 8 Conference First Team, with Ayash Ahmed, Mohamed Aljabaly, and Mohamed Nasser named All Conference Honorable Mention.
In team awards selected by the players, Mubarak Said and Saleh Mohammed were named co-Most Valuable Players, Said was selected Best Offensive Player, Saleh Mohammed, Bryan Herrera, and Mohamed Nasser were named co-Best Defensive Players, while Ahmed Omar was named Most Improved, Koby Stewart was selected Hardest Worker, Amine Mohammed picked Rookie of the Year, and Mohamed Aljabaly received The Cardinal Way Coach’s Award.
Coldwater finished the season 13-8 after beating #1 ranked Gull Lake in the district semi final and losing to #3 ranked Marshall in the district final.
