CHELSEA, MI (WTVB) – In high school football, the Coldwater Cardinals will play for a Division Three District championship Friday night as for the third time in five seasons the Cardinals will meet Chelsea in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Football Playoffs.
The two teams will meet in Chelsea Friday night in a 7:00 p.m. contest. The Cardinals are 9-1 while Chelsea is 10-0. The Bulldogs were ranked sixth in Division Three in the final Michigan Associated Press High School Football Poll of the season while the Cardinals were ranked 11th.
Both teams won pre-district games last Friday after falling behind. Coldwater scored 48 unanswered points to defeat Pinckney 48-14 while Chelsea came back from a 21-6 deficit to beat Parma Western 28-21.
Chelsea used the home field advantage to beat Coldwater 27-20 in the 2016 District Finals. They defeated the Cardinals 35-7 in the 2015 state semifinals at snowy Withington Stadium in Jackson.
