Carol Jane
Paupore, 81, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at Select Specialty
Hospital in Battle Creek.
A private
family memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
Carol was born on July 22, 1938 in Spalding, MI to Harry and
Florence (Popp) Paupore. She grew up in Leelanau County, MI, graduated from the
St. Mary Catholic High School in 1956 and received a bachelor’s degree from Western
Michigan University. Carol remained in Kalamazoo until moving to Branch County
in 1966, where she had resided since.
She was a social worker with the State of
Michigan, working for DHS in Branch, Jackson and Hillsdale counties as a CPS
worker. She retired in the late 1990s, after which she did freelance social
work for a few years.
In Coldwater, where she most recently resided, Carol attended
St. Charles Catholic Church and belonged to the local Red Hat Society group.
She was very independent and a Star Trek fan. She always enjoyed reading and
sailing, and horses when she was young.
Carol is survived by her children, Michael Kokinis of
Farmington Hills, Kevin (Sheryld) Kokinis of Coldwater and Brad Paupore of
Portage; siblings Mary Neadow of Leland, Phillis McDivit of Phoenix, AZ,
Elizabeth “Betty” Waltz of Newport News, VA and John Paupore of Lake Leelanau;
eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her siblings, Harry Paupore, Jr., Jack Paupore, Tom Paupore and Annette Plamundon.
