COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new City Council member was among those sworn in during Monday night’s Coldwater City Council meeting.
Emily Rissman received her oath of office for a first ward City Council seat. Also sworn in by City Clerk Susan Heath were Council members Chris Pierce, John Petzko and Scott Houtz and Mayor Tom Kramer.
Rissman defeated Cisco Ortiz 132-77 in last Tuesday’s election. Kramer thanked him for his 13 years of service.
Ortiz said it was an honor to serve and he remembered it was his complaints about cable TV and water rates that eventually led to his seat on the Council in 2006.
In other business, the Council agreed to have Randall Hazelbaker serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the next two years.
