COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Republican Party Vice Chairman Tom Matthew was chosen by the Branch Ciounty Board of Commissioners Tuesday to serve out the rest of Don Vrablic’s term which expires at the end of 2020.
Matthew was one of three candidates for the position. The others were Branch County Republican Party chairman Mike Arnold, and Verna Winger, who recently retired from Branch County government, mostly recently as a senior account clerk in the Administrator’s Office.
In a roll call vote, Matthew was favored by Commissioners Terri Norris, Leonard Kolcz and Randall Hazelbaker while Commission Chair Ted Gordon voted for Winger.
Matthew’s first meeting as a County Commissioner will be a work session November 21, 2019.
Vrablic had to step down from the Board of Commissioners because he and his wife moved outside of the district he represented.
