COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) animal- There are no action items on Monday nights City of Coldwater Planning Commission agenda but they are scheduled to discuss four items.
One discussion will cover what a possible Marihuana Establishment Ordinance might look like. Among the items expected to be covered include the city licensing process and determining the criteria for reviewing permits and site plan reviews. It is being suggested that such establishments be located in areas zoned D-2 Heavy Industrial. They would also have to be at least 1,000 feet away from schools and 500 feet from a residential zoned district. There would also be a one time application fee of $5,000.
The other discussions will deal with possible drafts of Animal and Temporary Signage Ordinances. Planning Commission member Chris Stevens called on city officials last month to do something that would control large farm animals in the city. He felt the current ordinances were to vague. The discussion on temporary signs is in response to public and Planning Commission interest in loosening up the city’s sign ordinance.
Consultant Jill Bahm from the Giffels Webster will also discuss with the Planning Commission what a possible landscaping ordinance might look like. She was brought in last June in hopes she can help rectify numerous frustrations about some of the ordinances and zoning policies that have developed in Coldwater over the years.
