COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A South Bend, Indiana woman was placed on probation for one year Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering guilty pleas in connection with a July 2019 confrontation with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police.
24-year-old Natasha Martinez admitted her guilt to assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police, and attempting to disarm a police officer. Three other charges will be dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for her guilty pleas.
Her three month jail sentence was suspended over probation. Martinez was given credit for four days already served.
She was arrested following the confrontation on Sprague Road in Coldwater Township.
Police were dispatched there on a report of an unwanted suspect. Court documents indicate her ex-boyfriend and another man had previously ordered her not to be on the property.
