COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities say they have received reports of scammers calling CBPU customers and claiming to be representatives of the utility, or in some cases, Michigan-Indiana Power.
Customers are being threatened with a shut off of their utilities within 24 hours unless account information is provided.
City officials say if you receive such a call, hang up and call (517) 279-9531 to let them know.
The City and the CBPU will never call you and force immediate action. Advanced notice is always given before shut-offs take place.
