COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The cause of a fire which caused nearly $150,000 worth of damage to a two story home at 121 Elm Street Monday night is still under investigation.
Coldwater Fire Marshal Steve Trall says crews were dispatched to the property owned by Saleh Ahmed at 9:09 p.m..
They found heavy fire and smoke on the south side of the structure when they arrived.
Off duty Coldwater firefighters also responded and the Quincy Fire Department assisted with an engine and manpower.
The fire was called under control at about 10:45 p.m. but not before there was heavy damage to the front first floor apartment.
Crews stayed at the scene until about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The occupants managed to get to safety and no injuries were reported.
Also assisting at the scene were the Coldwater Police Department, the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, Branch County Victims Services Unit, the Branch County Disaster Action Team of the American Red Cross and Lifecare Ambulance.
