BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN) – So that it can be converted into a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, The McCamly Plaza Hotel in Battle Creek will close for six months for renovations at the end of the month.
Guests will be allowed to stay at the hotel through November 30, 2019. The announcement will not affect the Michigan High School Athletic Association Volleyball Finals which are scheduled for this weekend.
McCamly Plaza Controller Tim Wiltse told WOOD-TV that shutting down the hotel would be the fastest way to get the renovations done.
The last day for catering will be December 3, 2019.
All 68 employees were given layoff notices last week but they will be eligible to be rehired once the DoubleTree Hotel is in place.
