COLON, MI (WTVB) – The Colon Magi will be playing for the Michigan High School Athletic Associaton. Eight Person Division One football championship Saturday morning in Marquette’s Superior Dome against Suttons Bay. The long trip to the U.P. was expected to cost at least $11,000 but the community has come through in recent days.
A fundraising effort by the Colon Quarterback Club on Facebook has surpassed its $15,000 goal as over $16,500 has been donated by almost 300 persons in the last four days.
The fundraising has allowed the school to offer a 56 passenger fan bus to the game. The bus will leave at 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning and come back to Colon right afterwards.
