GIRARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two Albion residents were arrested Tuesday morning after a report of a suspicious vehicle led to the discovery of stolen items in northern Branch County.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says deputies responded to the suspicious vehicle report in the area of East Girard Road near the east limits of Girard just after 7:00 a.m..
When they arrived, the vehicle had pulled into a private driveway and a 40-year-old man who was the driver ran south into a field and woods. A 26-year-old woman who was a passenger was detained at the scene and the Branch County Sheriff’s Office K9 Chaos was deployed.
The male suspect was arrested after a brief chase on foot.
An investigation showed the two were in possession of numerous stolen items from local stores, and personal property, which included burglary tools.
Eichler says the suspects were out all night, and both were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects were lodged at the Branch County Jail on several local charges and warrants from other Michigan police agencies.
