COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Patrick Beeman has been promoted from Lieutenant to Deputy Chief of Police for the Coldwater Police Department.
Beeman has been in law enforcement for 29 years. City Manager Keith Baker says in his report for Monday’s City Council meeting that Beeman has held every rank with the department, and has trained in many specialized aspects of law enforcement.
The Coldwater City Council approved a request from Director of Public Safety Joe Scheid last month to update the job description for the Deputy Chief of Police.
Scheid told the Council the old job description, which was listed as Deputy Director of Public Safety, had extra language added for fire response.
Much of the language was added when it was decided the previous Public Safety Director was not going to attend fire training. Scheid said since he has fire training, he will be able to assist the Fire Department as needed.
Beeman named a Lieutenant in 2017. He has also served as the leader of the Emergency Response Team.
Beeman has also been an instructor and a Detective Sergeant. He began his career with the Coldwater Police Department in 1990.
