ROCHESTER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater’s Jillian McKinley has qualified for Saturday’s 50 freestyle finals at the MHSAA Division Three Girls Swimming and Diving Finals at Oakland University thanks a new school record time in the event.
She finished tenth in the events preliminary round on Friday morning with a time of 24.56 seconds. The time was 35-hundredths of a second faster than her seeding time of 24.91.
The top 16 finishers in the preliminary round advance to Saturday’s finals.
McKinley missed qualifying for the state finals in the 100 freestyle by four places as she was 20th in the preliminary round with a time of 55.09 seconds.
Coldwater’s Leah Goodwin finished 23rd in the one meter diving competition.
