Jack Lakota Gibson, age 7, of Burlington, died on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from injuries sustained in a tragic house fire that also injured his parents and his sister.
A private burial service will be held at Burlington Cemetery and a public memorial service will be held at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City with a date to be announced later. The service is dependent on his family being healthy enough to attend.
Jack was born on April 9, 2012 in Marshall, Michigan to Harley and Jacklyn (Jeffries) Gibson, Jr. He lived in Burlington with his family and attended school at Tekonsha Elementary. He was always very quiet and loved to whisper to butterflies. He loved everybody and liked to snuggle with his family. He would often say to his mother, “I want to sleep in your bed”. He loved motorcycles and getting to ride on them. He enjoyed playing with his cars, his big firetruck and his drone, although he had trouble controlling it, so he crashed it most of the time. He really wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up some day. He will be missed terribly by his family and he will never be forgotten by those who loved him so dearly.
Jack is survived by his parents, his 6 year-old sister, Shayan Gibson, his older brothers Donald (Amber) Miller and Johnathen (Kylia) Miller, all of Union City, his grandmother Shirley Jeffries of Burlington, his uncle Mike (Penny) Gibson of Maryland, and his aunt Debbie (Howard) Upston of Tekonsha, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Kenneth Jeffries and Harley Gibson, Sr., his grandmother Barbara Cook, his uncles Rodney Jeffries, Lee Hamilton, and John Carey.
Memorial contributions may continue to be made Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, PO BOX 161, Union City, MI 49094.
