COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Senior Matt Gipple has been named the Most Valuable Offensive Player for the 2019 Coldwater High School varsity football team, while Zach Tong and Bo Branham shared the defensive MVP award. The awards were presented during the team’s post season banquet Sunday night.
Gipple set a new single season record at Coldwater as he rushed for 1,585 yards. He finished his career with 2,380 rushing yards, which left him second on the all-time list behind Sam DeMeester, who rushed for 3,540 yards between 2013 and 2016.
Branham had 76 tackles on defense which included five for loss while Tong recorded 61 tackles.
The team awards were selected by the Cardinal players.
