COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved the schedule adjustment for the establishment of the new Branch County Jail foundation during their regular meeting on Tuesday.
The work is now scheduled to start in the spring. Mary Jane Butkovich from Clark Construction said during last Thursday’s work session that weather conditions have softened the soil adding that it would cost between $300,000 and $750,000 if they moved forward with the work now. The work would involve prepping the land and reinforcing it for cement work.
Clark recommended postponing the earthwork until the frost laws are lifted in the spring.
Despite the delay, Clark is still confident they will meet the original 22 month construction projection.
