COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – High winds Wednesday took down power lines across southwest and west Michigan, leaving thousands in the dark heading into the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
In the Branch County area, several hundred customers lost power, with the estimated restoration time from Consumers Energy not until late Thursday or early Friday morning.
One pocket of homes that lost power was near the new Consumers Energy Service Center at I-69 and Jonesville Road. 117 customers were listed as without power Thursday morning.
In Calhoun County, power was reported out to several hundred Consumers Energy customers in the Union City, Tekonsha, and Burlington areas. Power restoration in those areas was also estimated as late Thursday or early Friday morning.
As of 9:00 a.m. Thursday, Consumers Energy was reporting 672 outages statewide, affecting 21,781 customers.
