Fred Charles Porter, 70, of Coldwater, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
Fred was born January 2, 1949 in Hudson, MI to Frank and Florence (Donley) Porter. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1968 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He resided for 15 years in Indiana, where he was a cook at Ponderosa in Auburn. He later resided in Union City before moving to Coldwater in 2007. Fred was an independent person who kept to himself. He attended church, enjoyed Christian music and liked reading and watching movies.
Survivors include Fred’s sisters, Imogene (David C.) Coyle of Coldwater and Corrine Handshoe of Harrisburg, AR. He was an uncle to many and had several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Christine Porter; and a nephew, David Allen Coyle.
