COLDWATER — (WTVB) — Numerous police, fire and emergency personnel will be taking part Thursday night in Branch County’s version Shop With A Cop.
The seventh annual event is being sponsored once again by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department and will be held at the Coldwater Wal Mart so if you see a bunch of lights from emergency vehicles outside of the store on Thursday, that’s the reason why.
Children selected by the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence will have dinner with police and firefighters, then shop for their parents, siblings, Toys for Tots and themselves, with the caravan of emergency vehicles going through town.
The Shop with a Cop program is made possible with private donations and a golf outing at the Bella Vista Golf Course in August that was put on by the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence along with the Branch County Sheriff’s Office and employees of the Lakeland Correctional Facility. The golf outing attracted 30 sponsors.
In addition, the City of Coldwater and Coldwater B.P.U. employees raised $575 toward this year’s program and Coldwater Police Department staff raised an additional $275 through the No Shave November challenge. Thanks to a private donation, the Sheriff’s Department presented a $1,000 check to the program last week.
