JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP – (WTVB) – Michigan State Police from the Jackson Post say drug use is suspected in a crash that took place at about midnight on Sunday night in Hillsdale County’s Jefferson Township.
Troopers say a 44-year old man from Osseo was driving north on South Lake Pleasant Road. The vehicle then crossed the oncoming lane, left the road and struck a tree.
The unidentified driver was trapped inside and had to be extricated by the Jefferson Township Fire Department using the “Jaws of Life”.
Reading EMS ambulance transported the driver to an awaiting helicopter from St. Vincent Life Flight.
He was flown to Mercy Health St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo Ohio and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident is still under investigation. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson Fire Department and Reading EMS Ambulance service.
