NORTH WEBSTER, IN. – (WTVB) – National Weather Service forecasters are predicting a second straight weekend of miserable winter weather.
After nearly two-and-a-half inches of rain fell on Branch County that froze as the temperatures dropped last weekend, a storm system that has been monitored for several days will be moving in Friday with snow overspreading the area from southwest to northeast late in the afternoon into the evening hours.
The forecast for Branch County says snow may be heavy at times towards daybreak on Saturday morning with heavy snow accumulations possible.
One forecast is calling for the possibility of one to three inches of snow during the overnight hours of Friday night.
Saturday is expected to bring a mix of precipitation with new snow accumulation of one to two inches. Another three to five inches of snow is possible on Saturday night.
A lot of questions remain as to how fast the warmer air arrives and how far north it goes.
The bottom line is that travel issues are likely Friday night into Saturday. If that’s not bad enough, colder air will sweep back in Saturday night into the start of the work week, with highs Sunday and Monday likely only in the teens in some areas. Sustained northwest winds of between 20 to 30 miles an hour will also take place on Saturday afternoon and evening.
