PENNFIELD, MI. – (WNWN) – Firefighters had to battle a large fire late Wednesday afternoon which destroyed the Kentucky Fried Chicken store across the street from Bailey Park.
The cause of the fire at 1405 Capital Avenue NE in Pennfield Township was not immediately known.
The fire was reported at about 4:45 p.m. and burned into the evening hours. Emmett Township’s Department of Public Safety posted a video of the fire on their Facebook page as smoke and flames billowed out of KFC’s roof which may have also partially collapsed. It’s still unclear what sparked the blaze.
Fire officials told WWMT-TV that part of the roof collapsed.
The restaurant was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.
Pennfield Township firefighters were assisted by crews from the City of Battle Creek, Emmett Township, Bedford Township, Newton Township and Fredonia Township.
