COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack will be facing at least one challenger in the August Republican Primary.
Johnny Lopez, who ran as a Democrat when he was beaten by Pollack in the 2012 General Election, says on his Facebook page he will run for Branch County Sherriff as a Republican in 2020.
The 54-year-old Lopez graduated from Kellogg Community College with a degree in criminal justice and graduated from their police academy.
Lopez has worked for several Branch County police agencies. He was most recently employed with the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol deputy.
Lopez says he wants to make some changes for the better interest of the people and will strive to bring back 24 hour protection. He also promises to be a working Sheriff alongside the deputies in order to personally meet and know as many citizens as he can.
