BRONSON, MI. – (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings avenged a loss earlier this season to Branch County rival Coldwater on Friday afternoon as they defeated the Cardinals 42-29 in an assembly dual meet which allowed the Bronson student body to enjoy the action.
Coldwater defeated Bronson last month in the finals of the Cardinals Invitational.
Bronson’s Craig Tappenden started the match with a void at 160 pounds which was followed by a pin from Coldwater’s Nick Buchanan at 171.
Justin Blankenship put the Vikings back on top 12-6 with a pin at 189.
Decisions for Cody Miller at 215 and Kevin Hall at 285 along with a void for Hashed Abdullah at 103 gave Coldwaterr a 18-12 lead.
The Vikings then won six of the next seven matches. A pin for Perry Lake at 112, a decision for Ben Modert at 119 and a pin for Preston Wronikowski at 125 gave Bronson a 27-18 lead.
Marshall Hoard’s pin at 130 brought the Cardinals to within three points at 27-24.
But Bronson secured the meet victory thanks to a Brenyn Fee decision at 135, a Ben Thomas Grate pin at 140 and a void for Aricin Smith at 145. Coldwater’s Caleb Littwiller scored a technical fall at 152 to close the match.
