COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bryan, Ohio woman who was accused of taking money from four local bank accounts belonging to the Girls Scouts of America formally entered into a plea agreement Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
A total of 33 charges were initially filed by Branch County Prosecutor’s Office against 36-year-old Kathy Jo Contreras.
Court records indicate she entered guilty pleas to amended charges attempted forgery, attempted uttering and publishing and attempted identify theft.
The original 33 counts against her would be dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty pleas. Sentencing is scheduled for March 9, 2020.
According to court documents, Contreras is accused of withdrawing a total of $1,280 from the accounts on 11 occasions without authorization.
A Michigan State Police investigating into her alleged wrong doing started in May and a warrant for her arrest was issued October 17, 2019.
