GRAND LEDGE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals saw their four game winning streak in boys basketball come to an end Tuesday night as they lost at Grand Ledge 65-48.
The Comets avenged a 66-55 loss they suffered to the Cardinals last season at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
There was a personal milestone for Coldwater’s Dylan Targgart as he hit a foul shot late in the game to become the latest member of Coldwater’s 1,000 point club.
Grand Ledge had leads of 17-10 after the first quarter and 28-20 at the half.
It looked like the Cardinals were going to put together another strong second half as they cut the Comets lead down to one point in the third quarter. Coldwater outscored Grand Ledge 18-15 to trim the lead to 43-38. But Grand Ledge pulled away in the final period as they outscored Coldwater 22-10.
Austin Santure had a double-double for the Cardinals with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Targgart finished with 11 points and eight rebounds while Spencer Rodesiler had 10 points.
Coldwater’s record is now 6-5. They get back into Interstate 8 play on Friday night at Hastings.
Grand Ledge swept the underclassmen games over Coldwater by scores of 63-47 in the J.V. game and 57-9 in the freshmen game.
