Doris Marie Sebring , 91, of Marshall, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A celebration of Doris’s life will take place at 11:00 AM Monday, February 3, 2020 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, with Rachel Labram officiating. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery in Fredonia Township.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Lighthouse of Tekonsha, 616 North Main Street, Tekonsha, MI 49092.
Doris was born on March 17, 1928 to Arah and Florence (Boehlke) Panting in Clarendon Township. She graduated from Tekonsha High School and on September 2, 1961 married Jack Sebring in Tekonsha.
Doris worked as a beautician in Marshall for 25 years under Marion Hopkins and Barbara Lee. She and Jack were co-owners of Tri-Lake Trails Campground in Marshall, along with his siblings.
Doris had a love of quilting, making many through the years with her mother and sister, as well as making lots of doll clothes for her daughter Ann. Doris had a love for taking care of her yard, keeping it manicured, along with her many flowerbeds.
She was a full-time babysitter for her grandchildren, teaching them many things that they will always treasure. Doris also took on a new passion in her late 80’s, of singing in the church choir, which she loved. Doris enjoyed her time at the campground and attending the Union Church UCC in Tekonsha.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann Karns of Marshall; her grandson, Cody (Ashley) Ash of Tekonsha; two great-grandchildren, Sonora and Jax Barrington of Tekonsha; several nieces and nephews; and Jack’s siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Sebring; her granddaughter, Chelsie Ash (2018); and her sister, Margaret Van Hoose.
